Adafruit CircuitPlayground boards stop working after I attempt to upload my code to them

  adafruit, arduino, arduino-ide, c++, hardware

I have been having some issues with my Adafruit Circuit Playground boards stopping working after I attempt to upload my code to them. After I upload my code, my computer stops detecting the board as a USB device (it doesn’t make the "device detected" sound when the board is plugged in or unplugged, or give me a new device plugged in notification), and the menu for serial ports in Arduino IDE becomes greyed out. In terms of solutions I’ve already tried:

  • Unplugging and reconnecting the board
  • Using the reset button on the board itself
  • Restarting the computer
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers
  • Reinstalling the whole program

Currently, my theory is that my computer is somehow shorting out the boards, as so far I have gotten three boards to stop working after using them with my computer, and they no longer work with other computers after the issue starts with mine. My computer is an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401 if that helps. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue or a similar one with the Circuit Playgrounds?

Thanks in advance!
